Narrative
This Colonel CUCHONACHT MAGUIRE was sheriff of Fermanagh in 1687 and mortgaged his estates to raise and arm a regiment in support of King James II in the 1688 revolution. After his death at the Battle of Aughrim where he nearly destroyed the 2nd regiment of British Horse, one of his officers severed his head and rode day and night until reaching the family burial ground on the Island of Devinish.
